Stock Information: Talisman Energy (NYSE:TLM) gets final court approval to acquire Repsol; OPKO Health(NYSE:OPK), Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN)

Talisman Energy (NYSE:TLM)  announced that the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta granted a final order approving the proposed arrangement under which Repsol S.A. (REPYY), through a wholly-owned subsidiary, is to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Talisman. The arrangement was approved by Talisman shareholders at a special meeting of shareholders held on February 18. Talisman also confirmed that the holders of its preferred shares will participate in the arrangement. The completion of the arrangement remains subject to the receipt of required regulatory approvals and the satisfaction or waiver of other customary closing conditions.

 

OPKO Health(NYSE:OPK) will publish 20 year outcome study for prostate cancer.  OPKO Health (NYSE:OPK)  announced the online publication of a study entitled “Improving the Specificity of Screening for Lethal Prostate Cancer Using Prostate-specific Antigen and a Panel of Kallikrein Markers: A Nested Case-Control Study” in the journal European Urology. The study shows that the four kallikrein panel of biomarkers utilized in the OPKO 4Kscore Test accurately identify men more likely to develop distant prostate cancer metastases, and men with a low 4Kscore were shown to have a low risk of developing metastatic prostate cancer in a 20-year follow up period. The study is part of the Västerbotten Intervention Project, which was initiated in 1986 in Västerbotten County, Sweden, and is a population-based study involving a health exam at ages 40, 50, and 60 years of age, where blood was drawn and preserved.

 

Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN)  wins stockholders approval related to REIT spin-off . Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN)  announced that its stockholders approved all proposals presented at today's special meeting related to Windstream's July 29 announcement that it plans to spin off fiber, copper and other assets into an independent, publicly traded real estate investment trust, or REIT, called CS&L. At the meeting, Windstream's stockholders approved a 1-for-6 reverse stock split, which will be completed following the closing of the REIT transaction and distribution of CS&L shares to stockholders.
