The unemployment rate in the UK fell to 4.9 percent in the three months to May 2016 from 5 percent previously, which is the lowest since October 2005 and better than market expectations of 5 percent. The number of people unemployed fell further to the lowest since 2008. The employment rate increased to a fresh record high of 74.4 percent and pay growth was barely in line with expectations. Number of unemployed were at 1.65 million and the lowest since March to May 2008.

Equity Market: Top Performing Country Indices: Germany, Japan and Spain.Worst Performing Country Indices: Norway, United Kingdom and South Africa. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.14 percent, to 18,559.01. The S&P 500 lost 0.14 percent, to 2,163.78 and the Nasdaq Composite fell 0.38 percent, to 5,036.37.

Currency Market: Top Performing Currencies: GBP/JPY, GBP/CAD and GBP/NZD. Worst Performing Currencies: CHF/USD, EUR/GBP, CHF/GBP. The dollar edged down 0.2 percent against the yen to 105.96 yen. The euro was last down 0.1 percent at $1.1013. The Australian dollar was nearly flat at $0.7503. The dollar index was steady at 97.068.

Commodities Markets: Top Performing Commodities: Oats, Soybean Oil and Corn Worst Performing Commodities: Silver, Platinum and Cotton. Brent crude was up 18 cents at $46.84 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was up 4 cents at $44.69 a barrel. Spot gold was up 0.1 percent at $1,332.81 an ounce. Spot silver was up 0.1 percent to $19.91 an ounce. Spot platinum was down 0.4 percent at $1,084.50, while palladium was down 0.7 percent at $651.70.

Treasuries: Top Performing Treasuries: US T-Bond, US T-Note 10 YR and EURO Bond. Worst Performing Treasuries: EURO Bobl, US T-Note 2YR and EURO Schatz. 10-year Treasury notes were up 8/32 in price for a yield of 1.557 percent. U.S. 30-year bond prices were higher as well, up 19/32 in price, yielding 2.2746 percent. U.S. two-year notes were little changed in price, with a yield of 0.693 percent, while U.S. five-year notes were up 3/32 in price, yielding 1.11 percent.
